The scoreline does not give a fair reflection of this game, with Ickwell being in control and playing the better football for the majority of the game. The visitors started brightly and took the game to the Saints, however the hosts were first to score with Ickwell failing to clear their lines, and a sharp effort beating Chris to put them 1 up. The Oaks then got in control of the game and with 10 minutes to go of the first half a wonderful curling effort by Kyle got the scores back to all square. The second half started with some controversy with the first of two penalties being awarded to the hosts, and although Chris went the right way he was unable to keep it out. They followed this up with another goal, this time from an unlikely looking free kick and some poor defending. Ickwell where now up against it, and showing some great spirit got back into the game. Kyle getting his second by calmly rounding the keeper and then passing it home. Keeping the pressure on, Ickwell then got things all square with a free kick drilled into the area and Josh managing to poke it over the line in a goal mouth scramble. The game then went away from Ickwell, another couple of poorly defended free kicks and the second dubious penalty of the day all being scored in the final 10 minutes. A bad day at the office for the Oaks who will have to improve quickly to get the season back on track.
